Tasting Southend Brewing Co.

Hello everyone and welcome back! For our 6th episode we traveled over to downtown Greensboro to try out Southend Brewing Co. Located across the street from Boxcar, up the road from Fat Tuesdays, and just down the street from Bourbon Bowl, so needless to say the location is perfect! Southend Brewing was started by a father and son duo who were looking to create a spot that's perfect for sitting and relaxing or grabbing a bite to eat and catching up with friends.

Southend keeps 14 beers on tap with some options being their core brews that stay on tap year round and some rotating brews that change with the seasons! With all the options to choose from and some wine and seltzer options anyone going is sure to find something to enjoy! And if you're unsure if you'll like a beer enough to drink a glass of, the amazing bartenders here are more than happy to help and let you taste any brew you might be interested in! We tried out the Pineapple cider which tasted like a mimosa almost. Perfect for the summer. It was light and refreshing, and we all would definitely get again. If you don’t love beer this is a great option! Went perfect with all of the food and vibes as we sat outside enjoying the beautiful weather, company, and adorable dogs on the back porch.

Now let's get into the food we ordered! To start out we shared an order of the Bavarian Pretzels, which came with three perfectly soft and salted pretzels. You have the option to get the pretzels with a side of beer mustard, cinnamon maple dipping sauce, or beer cheese. We opted for the beer mustard and oh my it exceeded all expectations. This mustard was the perfect amount of mustard flavor and a punch of beer, the flavors worked so well together. We also ordered the house made falafel which came with fresh pita chips, hummus, tzatziki and olives. The falafel were perfectly spiced and crispy, and the hummus and tzatziki sauce were full of flavor. Overall this would be a great option to share with the table or have as a meal!

We tried out two of their sandwich options and both were unique and packed with flavor. The first sandwich we got was the Southern Cuban sandwich with pulled pork, smoked ham, gruyere cheese, pickled relish, and dijon mayo on a pretzel bun. This sandwich was a 10/10, so good and was served with potato salad which was a fun side to have instead of fries. The sandwich was great and a perfect size and twist on a classic cuban sandwich! The second sandwich we got was the Caprese chicken sandwich with grilled chicken, roasted red peppers, onion, tomato, arugula, melted mozzarella with a balsamic glaze, and pesto aioli on ciabatta. Again overall a 10/10 the garlic pesto aioli really made this sandwich, and the roasted red peppers in it really upped the flavor profile of this sandwich. The ciabatta bread was nice and crispy which gave this sandwich the perfect crunch.

The atmosphere of Southend is truly unlike any other bar or brewery in the area. It really is the perfect spot to sit for hours to enjoy good brews, bites, and company. There is ample seating options as they have a front porch, inside seating, back porch and side deck. With the spring and summer seasons coming up this is a great spot to take your friends, parents, or co workers and catch up. Plus if you're looking to bar hop around the area this is a spot that needs to be on your list! Another cool part about Southend is that you can rent out their patios for parties and events which be super fun! Overall they have a ton of food options and you can really find anything you want on their menu, would definitely recommend trying out Southend the next chance you get!
