Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! For our podcast review this week we ventured to Sushi Republic in Greensboro NC. Sushi Republic was voted by readers of Triad's Best 2021 on Yes Weekly as the best Sushi restaurant in Greensboro, so we were all very excited to try this place! This restaurant is located near the UNCG campus and serve sushi and diverse fusion dishes inspired from different cultures.

To start we ordered three orders of the pork goza, two pan fried and one steamed. The goza came with a classic dumpling sauce and had the perfect amount of filling. We also ordered the Tuna Tataki, which came with thinly sliced pepper crusted tuna over a bed of lettuce and topped with some crispies and tossed in chili ponzu sauce. The tuna was very fresh and had a great coating, the chili ponzu sauce is what really set this dish apart from other restaurants that offer the same dish. Another starter dish we ordered was the Kani salad which came with crab over a classic asian style house salad. Their Kani salad was different than other restaurants that offer the same dish, the crab meat was not shredded and the dish did not come with spicy mayo.

For our main dishes we ordered three rolls, a don dish, and chicken fried rice. The first roll we got was Mad Salmon roll. This roll came spicy salmon, jalapeno, cucumber roll topped with avocado, Sriracha & eel sauce. The jalapeno in this roll, really made it special and paired really well with the cucumber and avocado. The second roll we ordered was the Red Hamachi roll. This roll came with spicy crab, avocado, cucumber topped with spicy yellowtail, eel sauce & spicy mayo. The spicy yellowtail and the spicy crab on this roll was so good, definitely had some heat but balanced out with the avocado and cucumber. The third roll was the Spicy King Salmon roll. This roll came with crab meat, avocado, cucumber, with spicy salmon on top with spicy Mayo and eel sauce. The don dish we ordered was called the Chirashi Don. This dish came with an assortment of fresh sashimi, sushi rice, and roasted seaweed sheets. The fish was so fresh, favorites were the tuna, salmon, shrimp, and white fish. No a fan of octopus, the crab or the egg patty moment. This dish is a great deal for $15, and very fun to make your own little sushi roll. The chicken fried rice, was amazing and was a really good portion size for what your ordering.

Overall, Sushi Republic is one of the best fresh sushi place in Greensboro that has a mix of classic sushi rolls and unique sushi rolls as well as other entrees you don’t normally see in the area. The restaurant has a great atmosphere as well. In addition, they have a lot of seating options, you could sit at the sushi bar, or outside on their patio which has a cover and lots of tables. Definitely a place to try out if you are in the Greensboro area, a great spot for a date night, girls night out, or looking for somewhere for dinner with your family!
