Tasting The Porch

Welcome back to our blog! Apologies for leaving everyone hanging for a week with out a review! Regardless, for this weeks episode we traveled to Winston Salem to try a popular spot called The Porch Kitchen and Cantina! The Porch offers innovative Tex-Mex with a unique food and beverage menu.

For food we ordered a variety of items! To start out we ordered the avocado fries that came with a side of cilantro ranch. The avocado slices were lightly fried and perfectly crispy, definitely a great appetizer to get and perfect for sharing with the table!

We also ordered the Texas Pete Chicken Flautas, Petualum Salad, Porch Naked Burrito Bowl with Grilled Chicken, and Asian Steak Salad. The Texas Pete Chicken Flautas are flour tortillas filled with smoked chicken and cheese, came with pico, sour cream, guacamole, black beans, rice, and had a spicy chipotle sauce drizzled on top, Only $15 for a lot of food. These are absolutely amazing, and exactly what you would want out of a tex-mex meal. The chicken and cheese was so flavorful and wasn’t too spicy with the hot sauce which was perfect for me. Their guacamole was amazing as well. I would buy their guac from the grab and go and eat at home with some chips! The Naked Porch Burrito Bowl came with jasmine rice, beans, cheese, veggies, queso, avocado Verde salsa, guacamole, sour cream, jalapenos, and tortilla chips. This is the perfect burrito bowl, and the grilled chicken was full of flavor.

Both of the salads were amazing as well, served in a medium sized mixing bowl they're an amazing portion for a salad! The Petaluma salad came with romaine, red and green peppers, tortilla strips, cucumbers, grilled tomato and avocado, corn pico de gallo and your choice of meat. We ordered this salad with blackened chicken that was incredible and cilantro ranch for the dressing. The Asian Steak Salad came with soy-ginger steak, jasmine rice, romaine, avocado, sesame seeds, pickled red onion, radish, and cucumber salad with honey sesame Asian dressing. This salad was really good, the steak and dressing were the star of the show offering a perfect combination of savory and sweet.

The Porch has a variety of unique drinks and specifically unique margarita flavors such as mango, lavender, pineapple, and blackberry mint! We ordered a Classic Margarita, a Strawberry Habanero Marg, and a Mixed Berry Marg!

Overall we all had an amazing experience dining at The Porch! The building is super cool and unique. You walk inside and it's all colorful and feels like a real cantina. The chalkboard menus were super cute. We ate in the ‘garage’ which is another part of the building and in there they had games for kids, cute fairy lights. They also have a spacious outdoor patio area, and if it was warmer we definitely would have had dinner outside and hangout to enjoy another drink or two.

The Porch Kitchen and Cantina has so much to offer! This has been one of our favorite spots we have tried so far and we will definitely be back again!
